England vs Pakistan 5th ODI/Ireland vs Afghanistan 1st ODI – 19/5/2019

>England Team News

England have no visible signs in their batting department, and their top order looks solid in the form of a rock with the likes of Jason Roy, Johnny Bairstow, Eoin Morgan and Joe Root. At the moment, with Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Moin Ali, their middleman is arguably the best in the world. Due to Suspension, Morgan missed the fourth ODI and the captain’s return will be strong. Root has set several centuries in Headingley’s four ODI innings, which inspires him to watch out. Jopra Archer and Mark Wood could open the bowling for England, and with the favorable wicket for seam bowling they would be expected to perform well here. Both Adil Rasheed and Moin Ali have taken eight ODI wickets in four and five matches respectively, and they will be the home side options in the middle overs.

Pakistan team news

Pakistan rely heavily on its opening pair of Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar as far as his batting is concerned. Both of these batsmen have performed well on this tour and the guests are hoping that they can give them a good start again. However, in the middle of the team there is not much favorable except for Asif Ali, who has done some good performance recently. Babar Azam is a key person in this batting unit and Pakistan can go if he wants to reach a strong position. In the context of the bowling, captain Sarfaraz Ahmed turned to Hasan Ali, Shahid Afridi and Junaid Khan to take the wickets every time and once again he would be counted for his work to do. Shahin Afridi is likely to lead the team’s pace attack and it would be important to attack him with a new ball quickly. Hasan Ali and Junaid Khan can be destructive in their day, and it will not be good for England if they allow these two to come in their own rhythm.

Ireland Team News

In the batting line up of Ireland, Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie, William Porterfield and Kevin O’Brien are the key figures and if the pressure on Afghanistan is to be made, then at least two of them will have to knock them well. In the recent tri-series of Bangladesh and West Indies, Stirling and Balabini were the best batsmen of the team and both of them would be very important to continue their good form. Porterfield is his leading ODI run-up, while O’Brien is coming with two fifties in his last three innings. The latter has won the most ODI wickets in the 20 matches – 19 in the field – and he will have a big role to play with the ball. There is great danger in Ireland’s bowling attack, however, Boyd Rankin, Tim Murtgh and George Dockerl are in the game. Rankin was the most influential in the Irish bowlers in the tri-series with five wickets in two matches, and in order to give initial success in the first powerplay, he and Murtagh would be attacked.

Afghanistan Team News

Afghanistan’s batting strength is mainly in the favor of Mohammed Shahzad, Rahmat Shah, Asghar Afgan and Mohammad Nabi. Shahzad has scored the most runs for the team in the format of fifty overs and he will be expected to start the innings well. Rahmat scored a century in the last match against Scotland, while in the middle order Afghans are the best team in the team. Mohammed Nabi is one of the most consistent performers with both bat and ball
