The Indian Premier League is said to be the largest T20 league in the world and lived up to its expectations with some thrilling and exciting competitions in the first week of the tournament. Chennai Super Kings won their first match against Mumbai Indians but lost to Rajasthan Royals in their last match. They play their third straight match this week and will win the competition before a rest of 4 days. The Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, won a thrilling Super Over competition against Kings XI Punjab. They will be more confident after this win and will dominate the Super Kings in this competition.
Chennai Super Kings
The CSK team faced criticism last night for lack of intention to chase down their massive 217 runs. Faf du Plessis was superb at batting with 72 runs, while Shane Watson (33 runs), Sam Curran (17 runs) and Kedar Jadhav (22 runs) tried to increase the run rate with their attacking shots in between. MS Dhoni (29 runs) hit a hat-trick of sixes in the last over but the match ended in the 19th over.
CSK bowlers were taken for the cleaners in the previous match. Lungi Nagidi and Piyush Chawla conceded 50 runs in their 4 overs and took them to the cleaners. Deepak Chahar and Sam Curran performed better in the match with combined figures of 8–0–65–4. Ravindra Jadeja never threatened to intimidate the batsmen as he scored easily at 10 RPO in his overs. Chennai could introduce Imran Tahir in this match.
Faf du Plessis – Faf scored his second consecutive half-century this season. He scored 72 runs in just 35 balls with 7 sixes to his name last night.
Sam Curran – Sam Curran has been a big star for CSK this season. He has taken 5 wickets for less than 8 RPO runs in 2 matches. He improved the scoring rate in both matches by contributing with the bat in the middle overs.
In the Powerplay, Delhi Capital’s top order dropped to 13/3. Shreyas Iyer (39 runs) and Rishabh Pant (31 runs) tried to be alive again, but in a short period of time their middle order collapsed from 86/3 to 96/6. Marcus Stoinis played a brilliant innings of 53 runs off 21 balls and led his team to a total score of 157 runs at the end.
Delhi bowlers reduced their resistance to 34/4 with the wickets of Rabada, Ashwin and Mohit Sharma. But Ashwin’s untimely injury was a huge setback for the team and Stoinis claimed responsibility for bowling 3 overs. Axar Patel put an economical spell of 4–0–14–1 in the match.
Marcus Stoinis – Stoinis had a dream last night that first helped his team score 53 runs off the bat and then needed just 1 run in 3 balls, saving the match. He will be a big player for Delhi Capital this season.
Kagiso Rabada – Rabada bowled 4-0-28-2 with important wickets of Maxwell and Gautham in the match. He gave the opposition 2 wickets for just 2 runs in the powerplay to give his team an easy win.
Dubai is known for its hot and humid weather. We expect the dew to play a big role in the second innings of the match and the bowlers will find it difficult to catch the ball.
The Dubai Cricket Ground has a large range of over 70–75 meters and has some support for surface bowlers. We can expect an average score of 160–170 runs on this pitch.
If they win the toss in the second innings with a 65–35 win-loss ratio and dew, both captains will opt for fielding first.
CSK vs DC-Today Match Prediction-Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals, 7th T20 IPL 2020
If Rayudu returns to the top, CSK batting may return to its full potential. After scoring 217 runs, bowling was his biggest concern. His spinners were ineffective and this could be a cause for concern for him. Delhi’s capitals, on the other hand, depend heavily on their top order and the rest of the lower order players are not big hitters, except Stoinis. Delhi sweated the fitness of Ashwin and Ishant Sharma to join the likes of Rabada, Axar and Mohit. Both teams have a lot of things to fix in their playing XI and we expect the teams to keep their playing XI in this match. We expect CSK to win this match on DC and a strong middle order due to its superior win-loss record which bats to No.8.
